A lazy day

Hanging out, playing some ping-pong
The river behind our house... teenagers party here all day/night,.  Too bad

Hanging out with Pierre, the neighbour

Today we walked through the vineyards behind our house, to visit Jean-Pierre and Francoise's relatives at their vineyard; Domaine de Merlet.

There is a lovely chateau through the trees

The door was locked but when we walked around the house, we found Joel in the vineyards, working.  He was happy that we stopped by to see him and he opened up the tasting room for us, which used to be the old house.  Very nice and rustic with loads of barrels in the other rooms.  They have 5 hectares of vineyards and produce 20,000 bottles of wine which they only sell direct.  Once a year they enlist the help of family and friends for two days and they handpick the grapes.  Sounds like they have alot of fun.  We felt special, knowing that we are the very first Canadian guests ever in their tasting room! :-)

We, of course, bought a couple bottles of delicious wine.
Our cellar is growing
Later in the day we drove to a castle, Le Chateau de la Brede, which was only about 10 minutes away.  We had to join a French tour and it was a bit long, but it was still interesting to see. It was built in the 13th century and even had a moat and was fully furnished, exactly as it was in the 18th century.  The same family owned it until the last remaining family member died in 2004.  Pretty interesting.

Don't you hate it when you ask someone to take your photo and they cut off the castle??  Sigh.
We had dinner, then we got into our jammies and watched some Corner Gas on the laptop!
