Today was a "home day"... nothing much on the agenda and stuck around the house. We had a leisurely breakfast of crepes and bacon, with local fixin's, other than the Nutella! Honey from the farm down the road (the one where Rachel gets a bag of veggies every week... we get to benefit while they are away. Awesome!), strawberry syrup that we picked up in Leoncel, and fresh apricot nectar juice from a farm near Brantes. I bought a crepe mix because the kids assured me they could read the simple instructions... turns out they were be optimistic. Ha! But we figured it out and they were great!!
There is also a huge car rally race going on, starting in the neighbouring town, St. Jean, so I'm sure we'll try to see some of that action as well. Lots going on!
While Rodger was gone, we walked into the big metropolis of St. Laurent to find some action. There wasn't any, except we noticed a half-dozen local teenagers had climbed the backside of the local church and were just hanging out on the roof. I guess that's what they do here. We went to the abandoned playground and they kicked a soccer ball around for awhile.
I made pork chops and mashed potatoes for dinner. And vegetables! I was initially annoyed that I was cooking dinner "just like at home.. why can't we eat out?" But I then reminded myself that the other alternative of travel would be to stay in a hotel and eat out every meal... our trip would last about 2 weeks before the funds ran out. Ha! So, back to frying pork chops with my cheap $2.50/bottle of wine! And honestly, eating out takes time and energy too! We're beginning to navigate the local grocery store like local pros now... it gets easier.
